Your strength does not come for your muscles, your intellect, or your good acts. It comes from Christ. Lately I have been working out at the gym with Mike and doing some filipino martial arts, but I must always remember that it is the Lord that will ultimately protect me. I cannot depend on my own skill or strength, there will always be someone better or stronger. But I can trust in a God that is absolute in power and love. So when I work out, I make sure that I am asking God for the ability to get stronger and that I do it not for good looks, not to be better than others, but to protect and love others as Christ would. Does your training reflect this?
Every sin leads to death and no sin is too great for God to forgive. This is all true, but is it true that therefore all sins are equal? I can see why someone would affirm this. If we’re all sinners, the punishment for sin is the same, and we can all be forgiven for any sin then how is it not the case that all our sins are equal in God’s sight? The argument continues that surely this would not be the case if all our sins were not equal. To strengthen this even further, every sin is against an infinitely perfect God and therefore every sin is equally wrong. The intentions for this argument are good because the equality of sins allows us to not be judgmental by treating all sinners as equal (no one is worse/better than the other) and it seems to reinforce the doctrine of total depravity as being universal to the human condition. The best passage that could be used in support of this is James 2:10–12 which states that breaking one part of the law makes one guilty of breaking it all. Or in another verse, Jesus states that anyone who lusts after a woman has already committed adultery in his heart (Matt 5:27–28).
One of my favorite bands finally made a new music video! This song reminds me of Linkin Park in ways, but I think it has its own unique flavor. The dance Trevor does at 2:44 is pretty dope!
Instead of the previous WC News series, I’ll rename it as “Link Box” in order to allow me to post whatever is of interest to me. There’s a lot of content on the internet that may not be “news” material, but of which I consider to be interesting. Feel free to recommend links by contacting me! A quick update on some changes at WC: I fixed the problem with the <b> tags in the comments, added the ability to read verses from a post (cf, Genesis 1:1), added a ‘recent posts’ feature, and lastly you can now edit your comments for 15 minutes after you have posted them on the site. Try ‘em out! So without further ado, let’s get these links started:
According to a recent study from the widely respected National Bureau of Economic Research, the democrats and their policies are largely responsible for the current economic crisis. Surprise, surprise! Economists like Thomas Sowell have been pointing this out for a while now, but somehow, people are ignorant of this.
Hilariously enough, The Pirate Bay is suing CIAPC because they copied their site down to the CSS. This is copyright infringement and doing so is according to them, a threat to economies worldwide”. Exaggeration much?
Good news for alcoholics, you may be able to get a vaccination to keep you sober!
Despicable, schools in Massachusetts are now making it permissible for boys and girls to use the same restroom. Liberalism just keeps getting worse and worse, it’s no coincidence that the slippery slope goes from pro-homosexuality to pro LGBQT.
Nice, the shooter of Osama Bin Laden is a fan of Demon Hunter.
Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
— C.S Lewis
Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. And walk in love, as the Messiah also loved us and gave Himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2
Every day is an opportunity to show the love of Christ. We are commanded to imitate God because His sacrifice is the unparalleled display of His love for us. If you were to ask yourself what is your best display of love toward others, what would it be? For some of us, such as myself, that would be our love for the opposite sex. It’s amazing how a relationship can bring out both the best and the worst in you. I myself can attest to it bringing the worst in me, but that is precisely what walking in love is supposed to remove. If you truly love someone, you will push yourself to be someone better for that person. Are you here to make yourself happy through a relationship or are you here to serve and make her/him happy?
This is a beautiful chart by no one other than the controversial Tim Hsiao. There will be more charts like this at Flowchart Philosophy. I’ll be posting some of my own on WC. Like all charts, only so much can be said. The intention of these charts is to combat our sound bite culture with something pleasing to read and look at. If you’re looking for more comprehensive arguments for this position, just do a search on our site here or look at the related posts at the bottom of this post.
I decided to restore all of WC’s older posts. At the time I recreated this blog, it made sense to start fresh. But I realize now that we had great posts and great discussions, it is the legacy of WC and it shouldn’t be removed. Enjoy the restored content
