It would be rather easy to open the casing on society’s future, and change the plug (thus changing its nature?); and it would be even easier to simply touch the leads together on the right wall socket and secure them with electrical tape. It would be easiest of all to just look at the other end of the cord, which I bet would plug onto the right side just fine (cf. http://www.apexjr.com/images/PowerCord3.jpg)

Of course, both options are bad ideas, because they’re not grounded. I guess any kind of marriage can cause an electrical fire :P

Let’s not get too carried away here, analogies have their limitations! Even if I considered all such possibilities though, it would eliminate its function of transferring electrical current into another source and therefore would either be used improperly, or if changed, it would be a different kind of plug entirely.

Heh, I was just having fun with the analogy. :P But I still don’t see any problem with changing functions, or even using things improperly. For example, I’ve currently got a small cardboard box cut open and folded up under the base of my monitor to tilt it slightly. I’ve completely frustrated its natural function of being a container, but so what? I’ve not done anything wrong.

Haha, alright! NL does not entail that, though. For one, we do not think that man-made things have intrinsic essences. Second, moral responsibility only applies to creatures that are capable of reasoning and freely willing their own good in accord to their natures.
